HEALTH & SAFETY

ATL currently provides a variety of technical and related support services to multiple divisions and programs of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
-
Worker Outreach: conducting outreach to present and former site workers and their organizations at Department of Energy nuclear sites and other atomic weapons sites under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA)
-
2. 9/11 surveys and health assessments: (mention BEAST award): ATL is dedicated to helping the heroes and survivors of the 9/11 attacks by identifying chemical, physical, biological and other agents or hazards present at the time. These agents have been reported in published, peer-reviewed exposure assessment studies of responders or survivors who were present in the New York City disaster area, at the Pentagon site, or at the Shanksville, Pennsylvania site. ATL recently was recognized for our outstanding work for The World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program’s Benefits Eligibility and Assessment Screening Tool (BEAST). Where we collected and analyzed metrics from 3.5 years of benefits counseling reports from over 95,000 members.
-
Fire Fighter study: ATL has developed and maintained a voluntary registry of firefighters to collect history and occupational information that can be used to determine the incidence of cancer among firefighters. Using our knowledge of occupational exposures to chemical, physical and biological (infectious) agents, we assist in requirements gathering and tracking.
